2019 “Elder” Freeman Policy Fellow
AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
Reentry, Community Organizing, Policy Advocacy, Public Speaking.
Katie regained her freedom in 2014, after completing 2 years at the Delancey Street Foundation. Since coming home, she has been involved with various organizations in the Bay Area’s re-entry community, such as the Leadership Academy (through SFAPD) and the Young Women’s Freedom Center. Katie has been involved in leadership/public speaking development classes, protesting, organizing, and mentoring.
Katie is a proud 2019 Policy Fellow with Legal Services for Prisoners with Children and All Of Us Or None. She is “a student of life, a professional at surviving, and I am excited to be a part of such a great organization.”
As a fellow, Katie would like to work on issues involving the Prison-Industrial Complex, homelessness as it relates to reentry, and criminal justice reform. Mainly, Katie looks forward to learning, developing, and becoming one the next leaders of the future—to keep the momentum of the movement strong and steadfast.
