LSPC engages in impact litigation, as counsel or co-counsel, and occasionally as a plaintiff. Our recent cases are in the area of prison conditions, including solitary confinement. We are also plaintiffs in a case challenging discriminatory policies against men and women with disabilities being held at Santa Rita Jail in Alameda County.
As a general rule, LSPC does not represent individuals in court.
However we do recruit and train attorneys to represent clients as part of The California Habeas Project. This project identifies incarcerated survivors of domestic violence who might be eligible for relief under section §1473.5 and connects them with pro bono attorneys.
