Soul Abuse Behind the Wall
by Delores “Dee” Garcia
Protection thru laws that don’t allow an excuse
for allowing rape-violence-abuse
Your mind-emotions-body-soul
should live in freedom-not in a hole.
Life should be good-you should be a whole person
that’s our logical way to reason.
The world that’s been created behind bars
Blocks out hope-the inner soul is marred
The law stops dead in its tracks at the gate
You become fair game to abuse-violence and rape.
You enter in from reality of life
Into what’s been created-days filled with strife.
No longer protected by laws of protection
You’re violated-torn in different directions
All you ever believed and knew before now
Will be tested and questioned and disavowed.
You’re not your own-you’re a CDC possession
Don’t try to be yourself-you’ll end up in depression
No name-just a number to identify you
Don’t think for yourself-just do as they do
All dress alike-all the same
Who am I? I don’t remember my name.
Abused-used-cast aside along the way
This is how for your crime you pay
Strip off your clothes-bend over-now wider
bend over-cough-hands on me like a spider
Touching me here-touching me there
It’s just their job as at me they stare
No secrecy-no privacy-nothing’s your own
They listen in on every conversation on the phone.
And don’t you dare get injured or sick
And don’t expect treatment to be very quick
Vomit up blood-they give you Maalox
Keep complaining-you’re in ad. seg. box
guts falling out from surgery done
infection sets in-medical care there is none
By the time you leave here-if you ever do
you have no vision-no hope of life new
Emotionally-Mentally-Physically undone
This system’s done its work-it has won.
It has raped you of all self-respect
has taught you not to feel or think or reflect
on setting goals for a future secure
one wrong move 3-strikes you’ll endure.
So many leave with the thought-why try?
Does it really matter if I live or die?
Our only hope-to unite together as one
and conquer-overcome what to us has been done.
