Administrative Financial Assistant
Legal Services for Prisoners with Children (LSPC) is a 30-plus-year-old legal services support center that advocates for the civil and human rights of incarcerated parents, family members, former prisoners and communities most affected by incarceration.
Purpose: Assists in the administration of the financial and business functions of the organization.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assisting the Admin. Director in preparing various financial or administrative reports.
- Pays monthly bills
- Prepare weekly deposits
- Allocate credit card entries in Quickbooks 2011
- Prepare thank-you notes for individual donors
- Prepare hiring documents
- W-2, I-9’s, Health Insurance, etc.
- Prepare termination materials
- Assist in maintaining personnel files
- Reconciles income from accounting software reports with the Dev. Director
- Assists in completing required yearly audit preparation documents.
- Answering phones in the absence of the Administrative Assistant
- Maintaining confidential personnel records and financial files.
- Performs any other duties as determined by the Executive Director
Requirements
- Experience working in non-profit administration and financial management.
- Knowledge of Quickbooks, WORD, Excel, e-mail/Internet computer skills.
- Ability to work well with a broad diversity of people.
- Good sense of humor.
- Demonstrates a commitment to racial, gender and social justice.
- Ability to work both independently and with minimal daily supervision.
- All LSPC staff are required to participate in and support program related work when needed.
- Attention to detail and highly organized is a must.
Legal Services for Prisoners with Children gives preference to applicants who have a personal history with communities disproportionately affected by the prison industry and/or experience with prisoners’ rights movement or community organizing.
Salary: $35,000 + DOE plus an excellent benefits package that includes health, vision, dental and five weeks paid vacation annually.
